I haven't got to use this like I was hoping too but from just the little we have used it, it is as advertised. My daughter used it on a recent trip to the hospital and while I was in test all day it kept her occupied. Only trouble was finding seating to keep it plugged in. The batteries truly only did work for about 2 hours or one movie. I like that now when I get the chance I can plug it up to the little TV in my computer room and watch a movie on the TV. The TV is one of those all in one with VHS player that bit the dust long ago and since the TV part works great I'm just too cheap to replace right now. But I tried this and it works great as a DVD player. Can't wait to try out some of the other features, like playing CD's or picture CD's especially at work when I'm shoved away in my little hole.

Very nice little product - Strong Reader -
This is a very nice little, inexpensive product for someone or a family with lots of DVDs and some time to kill. The battery, while compact and odd-shaped, lasts for a good 90-105 minutes so you can watch a TV show or average length movie in one sitting. Also the nice screen size is much more enjoyable than an Ipod screen. It takes several hour to recharge the battery, but this is a great option for a long car ride for kids who want to do something separately, plane trips where size and weight make a difference, etc. The picture and sound via headphones is pretty good considering everything. This is pretty nice in that you can use your existing DVDs and not need to convert to MP3s or re-purchase in other formats. Having a remote is pretty convenient.

Good reviews below. My only complaint is that within the first hour I dropped mine from 1 foot to the sidewalk and the cheap plastic hinge broke the top of the clam from the bottom. The unit still works fine, but it's now in two pieces. But I liked it enough to quickly order a replacement and blame my own carelessness. But a more durable hinge would be a smarter design on their part.

This compact portable DVD player sounded like just what I was looking for to listen to DVDs on my walks. But, it came with a dead battery that wouldn't recharge. jwin support sent me a preprinted list of steps to get the battery charged and eventually it would charge--but the charge would only last for half an hour. A further request for battery warranty replacement instructions was not answered. Soon, the built in speakers stopped working. In spite of all this and because of the time and postage cost of getting it replaced (if even possible), I'm going to keep and use the unit. I've made a rechargeable battery pack from 8 AA batteries and a Radio Shack holder. A plug-in speaker for from WalMart takes care of the second problem.

for starters the my shipper took for ever to send this item with excuse after excuse when it arrived i charged it for 12 hours the remote batterie did not work out of the box then when i put a new batterie in the remote the player still would not respond to it nor would the keys on the player work the screen worked for about 5 min the all i get are differnt colored lines on the screen or an all white screen one of the speakers did not work you can use the player with the av out function only but it only works for around 2 hours and then it stops playing the movie and you can hear the dvd drive spinning and something that sounds like thumping i would not recomened this player but this seems to to be something common with all jwin players

I picked this product for two reasons, 1st: it had two headphone jacks. Both headphone jacks are powerful. You do NOT loss quality when you plug in the second one; which is good. Second, the size was middle ground...not the biggest and not the smallest. The quality is really sharp. I was watching a movie the other day w/ someone and the commented on how crisp the screen was.
Lastly, what i noticed is the volume for everyone to hear (w/out jacks) is awesome. Its loud. Again, i have watched some other portable dvd players and the external speakers suck. This product is great all around and I would recommend to anyone.

After a lousy experience with the Coby Electronics TF-DVD7107 7-Inch Portable DVD Player, this Sony port DVD player has allowed me to end the search for something that functions effectively and is easy enough for a 5-yr to use. My old portable dvd player, a Haier, I had used mercilessly and constantly, and when it broke after about a year and a half, I decided to treat the new one tenderly. I hardly used this Sony, never dropped it or took it near water or exposed it to dirt, and it broke sooner than the old one. This time when I buy a player I'll shop around more. I was disappointed, because I thought Sony was higher quality.
